Moral Twin Earth

twinearthThe Moral Twin Earth is an argument against synthetic naturalism; the argument aims to show that moral terms cannot refer to natural properties without facing major problems. In this series on the Moral Twin Earth thought experiment I’ll summarize the dialectic between Horgan and Timmons and David Copp in three papers, and offer concluding thoughts.

  1. David Copp. Milk, Honey, and the Good Life on Moral Twin Earth. 2000.
  2. Horgan and Timmons. Copping out of Moral Twin Earth. 2000.
  3. David Copp. Referring to Moral Properties: Moral Twin Earth, Again. 2007.
  4. Concluding thoughts.
